Popcorn/Snookie

Hi Russ,

I just wanted to let you know that Popcorn arrived safe and sound with us!  She is a lovely, sweet girl, and has adjusted very well to being here.  I gave her a bath and a brush, and she is really beautiful.  I’ve attached some photos.

Take care,

Findlay aka Konrad

Hi Russ,
We are emailing you today to give you an update on our dog 'Findlay'
(formerly Konrad - adopted 12/23/09).
All is well in Findlay's life.
He doesn't like to go too far from us and follows us from room to
room, even after 4 weeks.  Although he now weighs 27 lbs, he still is
a lap dog.  The vets seem to think he is about 6-7 months old, as he
lost his last puppy canines after we adopted him, but he can still be
an ornery puppy at times.  He was practically house trained when we
picked him up and he learned sit and to stay fairly quickly.  He likes
going on walks, riding in cars, and crawling under the sheets of the
bed.  Everyone we meet on our walks is his automatic friend - he knows
no strangers, but no one can agree on what he is, even the vets cant
tell if he will be 35 lbs or 50 lbs or what part of a
boxer/beagle/pit/lab mix he may be.
Regardless of what breed he is, he sure is a sweet little dog that we
are happy to have with us!
Best,
Drew and Kim

Yoshi

I just wanted to give you an update on Liza, the beagle mix, we adopted in December.  Her new name is Yoshi, a name picked by my kids who are big fans of the game Mario Brothers.  (Yoshi is a charecter on the game.)  You were right when you said she is a very sweet and friendly dog.  My kids love her and she is great with them.  She is learning the rules of the house (like no peeing on the carpet!) and trying her best to obey them.  She knows how to "sit" and "shake" already and is trying to learn how to "stay."  That one is hard for her since she if so full of energy, she cannot sit still very long!  Right now she is mostly inside our house (or in the garage when we are not home) due to the cold weather.  Once it warms up, we have an underground wire fence surrounding our property that I will be training her on.  Then she will have 3 acres of land to run on and burn up her energy.  Now she settles for playing fetch and wrestling with us inside.  We are trying to housebreak her in hopes she will be both an inside and outside dog. She was spayed last Tuesday, and did very well with it.  The vet said she is clear of heart worms and seems to be a very healthy dog.  Since she does have beagle in her, we had him put a microchip in her just in case.

I just wanted to give you an update and tell you thanks so much for allowing us to bring her into our home.  Thanks also for the voucher to have her spayed.  It helped greatly with the expense and allowed me to have the money to put the microchip in.  I think very highly of you and what you do for these dogs.

Angel

I saw this poor little Boston Terrier online at Auglaize Couny Dog House
on 9/16/09. I called and set up a time to go see her. As soon as we
walked in we decided to take her. Before she was even out of the cage so
we could see her. She stole our hearts. She had been nearly starved to
death. You could see every bone in her body and she had lost most of her
hair(due to having fleas so badly). We named her Angel. She is a very
sweet and loving dog. She now has gained weight and got her hair back.
She is a beautiful dog and now healthy. We love her and would never give
her up. Just cause a dog don't look the cutest doesn't mean they won't
make a wonderful addition to the family. People seen her and asked us
why we would get such a ugly dog. I told them she was like the ugly
duckling and with some TLC she was going to be beautiful. They see her
now and are amazed that it it the same dog. I just wish I had the room
to save more of these loving animals that deserve a good life. I have 3 awesome
dogs I have saved and two of them came from the pound. And
the other from what I believe was probably a puppy mill. Please give the
animals at the pound a chance they may be the best pet you have ever
had. Mine are! The Picture I have attached was the day I brought her
home. She does not look like this now.

Kobe

My son and I had been looking for a dog quite sometime. I was really looking for "key points" on a dog. I knew I didn't want a puppy and was really nervous of getting an older dog. Being housebroken was a huge factor for me. With my son being an only child I really wanted a dog that would stay with him in the yard and become his friend. Fortunately, Shelly had called me and said we have a dog who appears to be housebroken, knows commands, and is great with children. So we took a trip out to the shelter, and sure enough we fell in love with Kobe. He was very friendly with us and he wasn't shy about showing us how to play ball.
Kobe has been a perfect fit for my son and I. He doesn't chew or bark. He's relatively calm and mild mannered, but he does have his times when he is filled with spunk and sass. He loves to go for car rides, he even takes trips to Fort Recovery with me to go swimming in the ponds. Playing ball and playing with his toys in the house is another one of Kobe's favorite things to do. I also have two cats. My one cat skippy keeps to herself, but is scared of Kobe. The other cat Niles actually gets Kobe fired up sometimes and they will chase each other around the house. My favorite thing about Kobe is how good he does with children. It's nice to know I don't have anything to worry about when Kobe and my son are playing.
We are so lucky to have a dog like Kobe. I'm glad I took the time to go and see Kobe he's a great dog. Thriving and learning, and very social. We love him and our truly grateful to have him in our lives. Our house feels like a home again. Thank you to Russ and Shelly for rescuing him and caring for him.
Sincerely,
Kristi Meyer
